A man was fatally shot in Southeast Washington Sunday evening in the District’s third homicide of the new year.

The shooting occurred about 6 p.m. at Park Drive and 32nd Place SE.

No details were available immediately.

In the year’s second homicide, Roger Lewis Haggins, 30, of Fort Washington, Md., died Saturday in a hospital after being shot late Friday, police said.

He was shot about 11:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road SE.

Haggins was one of two people killed in a series of violent incidents Friday night and early Saturday that left at least seven other people wounded.

In the first homicide of the year, Joseph Andre Robinson, 31, of Southeast was fatally shot Friday night in the 3700 block of Hayes Street NE.

In addition to being the first homicide in the city in 2016, it was the District’s first in 11 days, a period that began last year.

Hours after Robinson was killed, authorities were summoned again to the area and found two gunshot victims wthin two blocks of where he was found.

In another incident Friday, three teenagers and an adult were shot and wounded outside Eastern High School on East Capitol Street NE as they left a basketball game, according to police.
