A 25-year-old man was shot in the face around lunchtime Friday inside a McDonald’s restaurant bathroom at the Verizon Center, according to D.C. police.
Authorities said the victim was conscious and breathing and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He was shot in the left side of the face and the bullet exited, police said. The victim was not able to provide a description of the assailant.
The shooting occurred about noon in the downtown sports and entertainment arena in the 600 block of F Street NW, the heart of a bustling part of the District at the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station. There are many restaurants and shops inside the arena.
Police did not know of a motive.
