Man slain late Saturday in Shaw area, D.C. police say

A man was shot and killed late Saturday night near the heart of the Shaw neighborhood of Northwest Washington, according to the D.C. police.

Kervin Sanches, 31, of Northeast, was killed at 7th and O streets NW about 11:15 p.m., the police said. He was found by officers who were in the area and heard shots, the police said. He died at a hospital.

A second man went to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound apparently suffered in the same incident, police said.

No information about suspects or motive was immediately available.
