One person was found dead after a crash involving three cars and a golf cart that shut down northbound Lower Marlboro Road and a portion of Maryland Route 4 in Calvert County on Saturday, authorities said.

According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, passing motorists struck and killed an unidentified man, who had been ejected from a golf cart when it hit a curb while attempting to cross Route 4, also known as Southern Maryland Blvd. It’s unclear why the unidentified man was riding the cart on the road.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., and roads were closed until around 1 a.m. Sunday.
