A 34-year-old woman in Upper Marlboro has been charged in the death of her 7-month-old son, police said Tuesday.

Shannon Renee Thompson admitted to suffocating her infant, according to Prince George’s County police. She is being held without bond on charges of first- and second-degree murder, according to online court records and police.

On June 17, officers responded to Thompson’s home for a welfare check and found the baby, Majesty Thompson, unresponsive, police said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

Prince George’s police do not anticipate making additional arrests, department spokeswoman Christina Cotterman said.

Online records did not list an attorney for Thompson.
