Police said Monday they are investigating a fatal crash in Virginia that killed a 38-year-old motorcyclist over the weekend.

On Saturday at around 12:30 p.m., a 2008 Kawasaki ZX-6 motorcycle was travelling north on Richmond Highway near Mims Street close to the top of a hill when it collided with a 1998 Ford F-150 making a left turn from southbound Richmond Highway, Fairfax County police said in a statement. The truck’s passenger side was hit by the motorcycle, the statement said.

The motorcyclist, Nathan Lamont Reed of Lorton, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, and the pickup-truck driver was not injured, according to the statement.

It is not yet known whether speed or alcohol was a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation, police said.
