A group of young men were gathered for a birthday outside an apartment in Prince George’s County early Wednesday morning when, police say, two masked gunmen approached them and opened fire.

Four of the victims, all in their 20s, survived the shooting and were transported to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

A fifth victim who’s birthday was being celebrated, 21-year-old Juan Agudelo Maldonado, was killed in the shooting. Prince George’s police identified Maldonado on Wednesday and said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of Metzerott Road in the Adelphi area about 10 minutes after midnight, police said. They found Maldonado outside an apartment.

Three of the surviving victims remain hospitalized as of Wednesday afternoon, authorities said, and a fourth has been released.

No arrests have been made, and detectives are offering as much as $25,000 to anyone who has information on the shooting.

“Obviously this is disturbing to have five individuals shot,” Prince George’s Deputy Chief Tony Schartner said. “We’re certainly asking and wanting the public to partner with us.”
