A three-car crash on Interstate 66 in Prince William County early Sunday left one person dead and two others injured, Virginia State Police said.

The incident occurred about 4 a.m. in the westbound lanes near the 48-mile marker. One vehicle overturned, leaving the driver with minor injuries. Two people were injured — one fatally — in the second vehicle.

The driver of the third vehicle, a white SUV, fled. A short time later, authorities spotted the vehicle leaving the highway. They stopped it and arrested the driver, 58-year-old Dustin Tran of Manassas, on charges of hit-and-run and driving under the influence.

Authorities did not release the name of the deceased victim.
