A female pedestrian was killed in what appeared to be a hit-and-run crash in Greenbelt, authorities said Friday.
Officers responded at about 7:05 a.m. to the area of westbound Greenbelt Road east of Capitol Drive for a report of a person down in the roadway, Greenbelt Police said in a statement. The person was found on the right shoulder of Greenbelt Road and was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.
The woman was identified as 35-year-old Chanel Nicole Hugley of Greenbelt.
Police said they were looking for a 2007 to 2011 Toyota Camry, dark gray and silver, with damage to the front passenger side and a missing passenger-side mirror, in connection with the incident. Police asked that anyone with information contact them at 301-474-7200.
There will be road closures in the area of westbound Greenbelt Road and Lakecrest Drive as the investigation continues, according to police.
