A man who stabbed someone and then fled on an eastbound train Monday outside the entrance of the Dunn Loring Metro station has been arrested, police say.
The cause for the attack, which happened around 7:30 a.m., was not immediately clear. The victim had injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Metro Transit Police.
Officials said they responded to the station after receiving a report of a “fight in progress.” When police arrived, they found a man who had been injured. He was transported to an area hospital.
The attacker, identified as 46-year-old Ali Ahmed Mohamound of the District, had fled the scene on an Orange Line train headed in the direction of the District. After a photo of Mohamound was released to officers in the field, he was caught at the Rosslyn Metro station and taken into custody without incident by Metro Transit Police.
Authorities said they found a knife on Mohamound, as well as several fake identifications. .
The incident is still under investigation.
