By now, it’s well known that Pokémon Go can bring all sorts of unintended troubles to those who play the game. But the Baltimore police gave an account Tuesday of a Pokémon incident that still seemed worthy of attention.
A motorist who said he was playing the game ran into a car, and not just any car, but a Baltimore police car. No injuries were reported, but it was the kind of incident that motorists would obviously prefer to avoid.
It happened about 3:30 a.m. Monday after officers had parked their cars on Eastern Avenue to answer a call. A Toyota RAV 4 ran into one of the officers’ vehicles, police said. They said on Twitter that the motorist told officers he had been looking down, playing Pokémon Go.
The body-camera video recorded a man saying, regretfully, “That’s what I get for playing this dumb . . . game.”
