A 10-story office building was evacuated Wednesday morning when a fire broke out inside a ground-floor Starbucks store at 14th and G streets NW in downtown Washington.

A spokesman for the D.C. Fire Emergency Medical Services department said sprinklers contained the fire, reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. Heavy smoke could be seen coming from the coffeehouse.

No injuries were reported. The Starbucks is located two blocks from the White House and two blocks from Metro Center.

Vito Maggiolo, a D.C. fire department spokesman, said the initial call was for an appliance fire, possibly a refrigerator. He said the fire started in the kitchen, but the precise cause is under investigation.
