Six people, three of them described as juveniles, were shot in the District Tuesday night in two separate incidents, police said.

In the first incident, the three juveniles, all of them males, were wounded in the 300 block of Franklin Street NE. The shooting occurred about 6:15 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokeman.

One of the three young victims was hit in the legs. A second was hit in the right hip and thigh, police said. The third was struck in his right shoulder.

All three were conscious and breathing after being shot, the police said. Juvenile is used to describe anyone under 18. The exact ages were not immediately known, and no information about the circumstances of the shooting was available.

The site of the shooting, which occurred well before dark, was near both the Edgwood Playground and Trinity Washington University.
