Three people were killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Charles County, Maryland State Police said. Four were injured.
The three who were killed and two of the injured were in an SUV that collided about 3 p.m. with a dump truck at Route 234 and Penns Hill Road, state police said.
Police identified the three people killed as Theresa Robinson, 44, of Waldorf, the driver of the SUV; Arnold Griffin, 45, of Waldorf, the front-seat passenger; and Kayle Bodensteiner, 24, of Baltimore, the right rear passenger.
According to state police, the preliminary investigation indicated that the dump truck was going east on Route 234 and the SUV was southbound on Penns Hill.
Police cited witnesses as saying that the SUV had not halted at a stop sign.
Details about the conditions of those injured were not immediately available.
The crash occurred in a rural area in the southern part of Charles County. It is about five miles south of La Plata and about two miles east of Route 301.
