A trash fire broke out Saturday night at the Gallery Place Metro station in the District, temporarily disrupting service through the station.

The small fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. by the D.C. fire department. Officials said the fire broke out on the Red Line platform, between the platform and a wall. No injuries were reported and smoke was dissipating, the fire department said.

For a time, according to Metro, Red Line service was halted between Gallery Place and Farragut North.

Metro said trains on the Yellow and Green lines were passing through Gallery Place without stopping.

By about 9:30 p.m., Metro said the station was again in use by all three lines. There were residual delays, Metro said.
