Two drivers died in head-on crash on Route 29 in Virginia

Two drivers, including a man from Vienna, Va., were killed late Sunday in a head-on crash on Route 29 in Culpeper County, Virginia state police said.

Michael K. Ratzenberger, 32, of Vienna, was driving a Subaru Forester that entered the highway in the wrong direction and collided just after 10 p.m. with a Honda Pilot driven south by Jose B. Hernandez Solis, 50, of Culpeper, police said.

Both motorists died at the scene, about 1,500 feet south of Route 676, police said.

Four passengers in Solis’s vehicle were seriously injured, police said.

They said Tuesday that the crash remained under investigation.

The site is about 60 miles southwest of Washington, and about 10 miles northeast of Culpeper.
