Two Dumfries men were found dead in a car idling on a residential street in Lorton, Va., street Wednesday in a double homicide that may be drug-related, Fairfax County police said.

Gregory Dennis, 19, and Ryan Cross, 20, were discovered suffering from upper body trauma in a late model, four-door Acura, which was stopped in the middle of Dolsie Grove Drive near Pohick Road, police said. Both victims were pronounced dead on the scene.

Officers were called to investigate shortly after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday by a local resident, who drove by the car on the way to work and reported it as suspicious.

“Detectives are exploring any potential connection to drugs,” said Officer Don Gotthardt, a Fairfax County police spokesman.

Gotthardt declined to elaborate on what led detectives to suspect the killings might be drug-related.

Gotthardt said residents of the neighborhood of single family homes did not report hearing any gunshots before the men were found dead, but said investigators believe the pair were killed at the location they were found.

Following the discovery, a police helicopter flew over the crime scene to document it Wednesday.

Police have not made any arrests in the case and have not offered a description of any suspects or vehicle leaving the scene. The families of the victims could not be reached for comment.
