Two nooses were found at a D.C. construction site, a construction company official said Monday.

Clark Construction Group LLC launched an investigation after the nooses were discovered on Nov. 28, said Matt Haas, the company’s vice president.

“Clark Construction is committed to maintaining a work environment that respects all employees and does not tolerate any action of this type on its projects,” Haas said in a statement.

Haas said company officials determined that a subcontractor employee was “involved in the incident” and he was immediately terminated from the project.

Company management conducted a series of meetings with job site personnel after the discovery of the nooses to discuss and “underscore Clark’s zero tolerance policy for such action, which will result in immediate termination,” Haas added.

A D.C. police spokesman said the incident was not reported to authorities.
