Two women were shot and seriously wounded Monday night in Northeast Washington, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 8:40 p.m. in the 4200 block of Blaine Street, said Officer Sean Hickman, a D.C. police spokesman.
Both women were described as conscious and breathing after the shooting. One was taken to a hospital from the scene, he said. The other arrived at a hospital on her own, he said.
The shooting apparently occurred outdoors. The site is about a block south of Benning Road, and about a half mile east of the Anacostia Freeway.
No information was available about the circumstances.
