Woman fatally shot in Washington Highlands area of Southeast Washington

A woman was fatally shot Wednesday morning in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

The shooting occurred shortly after 9 a.m. in the 700 block of Chesapeake Street SE.

Police confirmed the woman has died but provided no further information. The victim’s name has not yet been made public.

Authorities broadcast a description of the suspected shooter’s vehicle — a silver Chevy Traverse with a D.C. license plate of FJ8860.
