A woman inside a nail salon near the Cannon House Office Building was stabbed with a fork Friday afternoon, and D.C. police arrested a suspect moments later near a Metro station, according to authorities.

The attack occurred about 1:40 p.m. on First Street SE, near D Street and the Capitol South Metro Station. Police said the victim suffered a minor stab wound and was treated by paramedics.

The area where the stabbing occurred is along a strip of restaurants and shops a block from government office buildings south of the Capitol.

The suspect’s name was not immediately released pending the filing of formal charges, which police said would probably be misdemeanor assault. Police also did not provide a motive.
