Man is struck by train at Metro station

The Mount Vernon Square Metro station was closed for a short time Sunday afternoon after a man was struck by a train.

Metro spokeswoman Caroline Laurin said the man was struck around 12:42 p.m. Sunday at the station, at Seventh Street NW and the Convention Center. The victim was removed from under the train and taken to a hospital. His condition was not released.

Also Sunday, Metro Transit Police found a man dead in the parking garage at the Shady Grove Metro station shortly after 2 a.m.
