Suspect in D.C. killing caught after car crash

The sound of a car crashing into a fence Friday night in the District meant the end of a search for a homicide suspect.

A resident of Gales Street NE saw someone “get out running.” Soon, she said, D.C. police emerged from an alley with a man in handcuffs.

It all began Friday morning when Prince George’s County police were called to a house in the 2200 block of Wyngate Road in Suitland, where a fight had been reported. Police said they found Jamal Rami Martin, 34, strangled.

They said they circulated a name and the description of a car. D.C police spotted the car, which then crashed in the 2000 block of Gales Street.

County police said Leon Antauwn Wynn, 43, of the Wyngate Road address, who knew the victim, was picked up and charged with second-degree murder.
