Suspect in Dewey Beach murder found dead in NJ

DEWEY BEACH, Del. — Delaware State Police say the suspect in a slaying at a Dewey Beach Motel has been found dead in New Jersey.

Troopers had warrants charging 26-year-old Pawan Kumar of Wilmington with first-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Danielle Mehlman of Bensalem, Pa.

Authorities in Delaware and New Jersey said Tuesday that Kumar was found dead in in the Bellville Motor Lodge, in Bellville, N.J.

Police say a maid found the body of Mehlman in a ground-floor room at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel on Monday morning.

Dewey Beach is a popular summertime destination between Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach along Delaware’s Atlantic shore.
