Teen shot, wounded in Northwest D.C.

A male teenager was shot Tuesday evening in the Columbia Heights area of Northwest Washington, authorities said.

The shooting occurred a few minutes before 7 p.m. at 15th and Harvard streets.

According to initial reports, the teen’s wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.

Officer Paul Metcalf, a police department spokesman, said the teenager was reported to be breathing and conscious when found.

It was not clear who shot the teenager or for what reason.

The site was a couple of blocks west of the Columbia Heights Metro station and near the intersection of Columbia Road and 16th Street, two thoroughfares that carry heavy commuter traffic at the end of the workday.
