More than 2,700 Pepco customers lost power Monday afternoon, the second day in a row that thousands of the utility company’s customers were left without electricity on a hot, humid afternoon.
About 2,000 people remained without power at 10 p.m. A Pepco spokesman said he expected power would be restored to the last customer by 2 a.m. Tuesday. Pepco’s outage status map did indicate power was restored to the area by that time.
The main outage was in the Shaw area and near Logan Circle, the same sections affected the day before. The Monday problem stemmed from a failure in a feeder in the vicinity of Third and P streets NW, said spokesman Bob Hainey. He said Sunday’s outage stemmed from a failure about a block away at Third and Q streets.
