Clinton’s last day: Hillary Rodham Clinton steps down today as secretary of state, and her successor, former Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry will be sworn in.

Freeway closings: The District Department of Transportation has closed Southeast Freeway from Eighth Street SE to Pennsylvania Avenue SE. It won’t reopen until at least mid-2014.

Olympian’s donation: Gymnast Gabrielle Douglas’s leotard, wrist tape and other personal items will go on display today at the National Museum of American History.

Washington sports: The Capitals face off against the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:30 p.m. while the Wizards play the Memphis Grizzlies at 8 p.m.
