Metro closing seven Blue, Orange Line stops for weekend track work

Metro plans to shut down five Blue Line stations and two Orange Line stations over the long holiday weekend so that the transit agency can work on the tracks near Stadium-Armory.

Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Blue Line trains will run only as far east as Stadium-Armory, with buses replacing trains beyond that point. The Benning Road, Capitol Heights, Addison Road, Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center stations will be closed.

Some buses will stop only at Stadium-Armory, Addison Road and Largo Town Center, and others will go to all of the closed stations.

In addition, the Minnesota Avenue and Deanwood stations on the Orange Line will be shuttered. Buses will run between the Stadium-Armory and Cheverly stops.

These stations will not reopen until Tuesday morning.

Also, Red Line trains will single-track between Rhode Island Avenue and Takoma over the holiday weekend.

On Saturday, buses will replace Green Line trains between Greenbelt and College Park.

Next weekend, Metro plans to close the Vienna, Dunn Loring, West Falls Church and East Falls Church stations on the Orange Line to allow for work related to the Silver Line.
