The transit authority wants riders to comment on several dozen proposals to change Metrobus service. The revisions, if approved by the Metro board after public hearings, would affect Metrobus’s airport routes, as well as service to National Harbor and other popular destinations throughout the D.C. region.

Metrobus 5A, operating between L’Enfant Plaza and Dulles International Airport, will be redundant after the second phase of the Silver Line opens, but the District government has proposed cutting the bus line when the trains get as far as the Reston area early next year.

Dulles-bound rides would take the Silver Line to the station at Wiehle Avenue, then switch to a bus.

The B30 bus, which takes passengers between the Greenbelt Metrorail station and BWI Marshall Airport, could include an intermediate stop at Arundel Mills Mall, perhaps boosting ridership by adding shoppers and gamblers to the mix of airport patrons.

The NH1, the bus connecting National Harbor with the Branch Avenue Metrorail station in Prince George’s County, would instead travel over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, connecting National Harbor with the King Street and Eisenhower Avenue Metrorail stations and establishing a transit link between National Harbor and Alexandria.

These changes and the others wouldn’t make the Metro budget bigger or smaller. Metrobus periodically reviews its services to put more buses where the riders are, take advantage of economic opportunities, or just adjust the schedules to the realities of traffic congestion.

Here’s a list of the proposed changes and the locations of the six hearings scheduled for the coming week.
