Two killed in separate shootings in NE Washington

District homicide detectives are investigating two separate deadly shootings that occurred in Northeast Washington early Saturday.

A man identified as Joseph Jerome Mickens, 22, of Northeast died after being shot about 10:18 a.m. in the 700 block of 19th Street NE, police said. Mickens suffered multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The shooter was wearing dark sweatpants and a dark hooded sweatshirt and was seen fleeing the scene in a four-door Dodge Stratus, police said.

Earlier in the day, a man was killed in a shooting in the 1200 block of Simms Place NE.

Police said gunshots were heard about 12:41 a.m. When officers arrived, they found two people wounded, one of whom died at a hospital, police said. The other was treated and released, authorities said.

Police identified the man who died as Mico Briscoe, 18. They said his address was unknown.
