Three people were killed, including a child, and three were injured Sunday night in a multi-vehicle collision in the Wheaton-Glenmont area of Montgomery County, a fire department spokesman said.

The child and one adult were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which involved three vehicles and occurred around shortly before 10 p.m. on Georgia Avenue, at the intersection of Kayson Street.

The third victim was among the four people who taken to area hospitals with injuries after the crash. That person died later in the evening.

One of the other patients who were hospitalized also has injuries that could be life-threatening, said Assistant Fire Chief Scott Graham.

No additional information about the accident or the identities of the victims was released.
