Two men found wounded in van in Alexandria; suspect in custody

Two men were found severely wounded inside a work van in Alexandria on Friday, and detectives are working to determine how they got there.

Someone who spotted the men inside the van first tipped police to the trouble in the 500 block of Four Mile Road about 6 p.m., said Ashley Hildebrandt, an Alexandria police spokeswoman. The men “weren’t shot,” she said. “They were just severely hurt.” She added that detectives were seeking to determine the exact nature of their wounds.

“It’s very strange,” she said.

Police said Saturday that a suspect has been taken into custody, although they declined to release further details about the incident.

They said both men were hospitalized with injuries considered to be life-threatening and remained in critical condition Saturday.
