Two people die from injuries in two-car crash in Manassas

Two people were killed and a third was critically injured after a car made a left turn on a red light in Prince William County early Sunday morning.

A 61-year-old woman driving a Honda Civic made the turn at the corner of Dumfries and Minnieville roads in the Manassas area. A second driver, a 39-year-old woman from Delaware, had a green light at the intersection and struck the Honda.

Two passengers in the Civic, Gisela Zuniga, 35, and Francisa Knauf, 60, were killed. The driver of the Civic was hospitalized in critical condition, according to a police news release. The driver and a passenger in the second car, also from Delaware, were treated for minor injuries and released.

Police said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which occurred about 1:20 a.m.
