Gov. Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday called for special elections to fill General Assembly seats that three state legislators are leaving for Congress.

State Sens. Tom Garrett (R-Buckingham) and A. Donald McEachin (D-Henrico) and Del. Scott Taylor (R-Virginia Beach) are giving up those seats after winning races in November elections in Virginia’s 5th, 4th and 2nd congressional districts, respectively.

All three legislative elections will take place Jan. 10.
