Voters in Fairfax City and towns in Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties head to the polls on Tuesday to vote for mayor, town council and other local offices.

Candidates in Herndon are focused on the impact that the arrival of Metro’s Silver Line will have on the town, while those running in Loudoun hamlets such as Purcellville have campaigned on how best to maintain the town’s quiet charm amid rapid growth.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. The races are nonpartisan.

A list of candidates in contested races can be found at and additional information is available on the Web site of the Virginia Board of Elections.
