Woman critically injured after jumping on cars

A barefoot woman who had been jumping onto automobiles Sunday on a highway in a Prince George’s County was struck and critically injured, police said.

The woman was running on Branch Avenue near Suitland Parkway and jumping onto cars there about 3 p.m., said Officer Nicole Hubbard, a police spokeswoman.

At one point, Hubbard said, the driver of a car in the southbound lanes applied the brakes after she jumped onto the vehicle. The abrupt stop threw the woman off, and into the northbound lanes, where she was s truck, Hubbard said.

The woman was taken to a hospital and the intersection was closed for about an hour, Hubbard said. The site is just south of the border between the county and the District.
