A 30-year0ld woman who was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Northeast Washington Thursday night has died of her injuries, according to D.C. police.
Georgette Jones of Northeast was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said. She was struck about 9:15 p.m. while crossing the 500 block of Eastern Avenue. NE. Police said she was walking from the Maryland side of the street into the District.
Police said the car that hit her, a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, was heading east on Eastern Avenue. Additional details were not released; police said there is no crosswalk at that location.
No charges had been filed as of Friday; police said the cause remains under investigation.
