Four men broke into an apartment Thursday evening in Southwest Washington and brutally attacked a 22-year-old woman, shocking her with a taser, cutting her with a knife and punching and sexually assaulting her, D.C. police said.

“The criminal conduct perpetrated by these criminals was heinous,” said Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police spokesman. “We will persist in our efforts to ensure that they are found and held accountable.”

Police said the incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Capitol Terrace SW. Alali said the men attacked the victim in her bedroom. Police believe the men targeted a specific address but do not know if the victim knew her assailants, D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said.

Alali said the woman was jolted several times with a Taser, repeatedly punched in the face and sexually assaulted by at least one of the men.

One man was described as black, in his late 20s and standing 5 feet 10 inches tall. Police said he had shoulder length dreadlocks, medium complexion and was wearing a black Ed Hardy hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans, black Nike boots, motorcycle gloves and had a black mask covering the lower half of his face.

Police said the man had a 12-inch long sliver-bladed knife with a white and black handle.

Descriptions for the other three men were not as complete, though all were wearing motorcycle style gloves. Police said the men escaped in two cars — possibly blue and green sedans.
