Woman taking out trash fights off assailant

A woman taking her trash out in Capitol Heights early Friday fought off a man who knocked her down and attempted to sexually assault her, Prince George’s County police said.

Officer Nicole Hubbard said the assault took place in the 400 block of Possum Court at about 1:50 a.m. when the man approached and struck the woman.

After she fell, the man attempted a sexual assault but ran away after the woman fought with him, Hubbard said.

She said police searched the neighborhood for the man but did not find him.

Ashley Halsey reports on national and local transportation.
