The Lincoln Memorial was shut down for part of Friday after vandals splashed green paint on the statue and the marble floor around it. Although such vandalism is rare on the Mall, the National Park Service says it is increasing at some parks across the country. Officials urge the public to call police to report vandalism and take pictures of any suspicious vehicles or activities.
