Airbnb offers free housing for Harvey evacuees

Airbnb is offering free housing for those evacuating Hurricane Harvey, between now and Sept. 1.

The home-sharing site posted last week a list of available residences in the San Antonio, Austin and Dallas metro areas, from hosts in Texas who were willing to let Harvey evacuees stay in their homes for free.

Airbnb said it would in turn waive all service fees for people affected by the storm.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) encouraged residents in low-lying and coastal areas of the state to evacuate Friday, even if a mandatory evacuation order had not been issued.
