In a statement posted to Twitter on Friday morning, President Trump said he had spoken with the governors of Texas and Louisiana and was “here to assist as needed.”
A short time later, Trump’s account also posted a photo showing him receiving a hurricane briefing in the Oval Office.
Hurricane Harvey is on track to be the strongest storm to strike the United States in 12 years. It’s forecast to make landfall on the Texas coast late Friday or early Saturday. Follow along for updates on preparations, evacuations and forecasts.
