The Snohomish County landslide

As of Monday evening, there were 176 names on the list of people reported missing or unaccounted for after a massive landslide in Washington state over the weekend. John Pennington, director of emergency management for Snohomish County, said the timing of the slide was particularly worrying. Had it occurred on a weekday at the same time, many people may have been at work; instead, on a Saturday morning, more people were likely to be in their homes. Read related article.
