The Nation’s Weather for Saturday, August 17, 2019

The eastern two-thirds of the country will remain in an

active weather pattern tomorrow with several clusters of

showers and thunderstorms. One zone of showers and storms

will target areas from the mid-Mississippi Valley through

the Ohio Valley and interior Northeast. Some of these storms

can be heavy and gusty, with the greatest risk being flash

flooding. Flooding downpours will remain gathered along the

Gulf and Southeast coasts, while the interior South stays

dry and hot. Another zone of heavy to severe storms will

focus on the northern Plains ahead of a rush of much cooler

air. The southern Plains will remain hot as dry, seasonable

air dominates much of the West.
