Antoinette TuffOn Aug. 20, the bookkeeper came face to face with a man who had entered her suburban elementary school with an AK-47-style assault weapon, 500 rounds of ammo and “nothing to live for.’’ She told him he wasn’t alone, that her husband walked out on her after 33 years. “We all go through something in life,’’ she reassured him, telling him she loved him and was proud of him as he began to surrender.
