The incredible story of Inky, the octopus who broke out of a New Zealand aquarium and took to the high seas — you can read about his great escape here — drew lots of reader comments and quips.

“Please watch out — he is heavily armed”, written by one Tony Pizza, was the top comment on the Washington Post’s Facebook post of the story. It had more than 830 “likes” by mid-afternoon.

On Twitter, there were lots of congratulations for Inky.

There were also plenty of pun-filled references to the unusual anatomy of Inky and others of his kind.

Some readers saw the signs of a new world order.

Many  made references to Nemo, the little clownfish at the center of Disney’s “Finding Nemo.”

And some imagined Inky’s new whereabouts.
