“Nashville” is a prime-time soap opera filled with the genre’s usual love triangles, will-they-or-won’t-theys, girl fights and family drama. But one thing that sets the show apart is the music — not “Glee”-style covers or “Smash”-like dream sequences, but acoustic ballads and catchy, radio-ready singles.
In the The Post’s Fall TV preview, Emily Yahr shared series creator Callie Khouri’s goal for the music:
“Khouri wants to shed light on that impossible-to-describe Nashville experience, like when you hear a song a thousand times on the radio, and then hear it performed at a small club by the songwriter. Or when you go to dinner one night, and the next night see your waitress sing a mind-blowing set.”
