Future “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon got personal during an interview with Savannah Guthrie on “Today,” as he revealed that he and his wife had their newborn daughter via surrogate.

Fallon, 38, shocked everyone with the news in late July, announcing that he had just become a first-time dad to a baby girl, Winnie Rose.

“My wife and I had been trying for awhile to have a baby, and so we’ve tried a bunch of things, and so we had a surrogate,” he told Guthrie, during the clip of an interview that will air in full next week. He added that he and his wife, producer Nancy Juvonen, 46, decided to keep it a secret between just the two of them until the baby was born.

Sure enough, it took the tabloids by complete surprise — but the media was a little busy covering the birth of the royal baby the day before and didn’t have much time to devote to Fallon’s new fatherhood.

“When it happened, we were in shock. We’re like, alright, who do we tell? Who’s going to be mad at us if this gets out?” Fallon said.
