This week, Edwidge Danticat has published a gorgeous, melancholy novel called “Claire of the Sea Light.” It’s about a little girl and her troubled neighbors in a small Haitian village. (You can read my review here in today’s paper.) The whole time I was reading it, I kept hearing the sentences in Danticat’s soft, melodious voice.

Back in 2007, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with her about a harrowing nonfiction book she’d just published called “Brother, I’m Dying,” which won a National Book Critics Circle Award. You can listen to that interview here:
