The young, celebrated designer presented a strikingly sophisticated collection on Friday. Dresses were draped in silk with dramatic open backs. Coats were heavy with rich wools and fur. It seems as Jason Wu has grown into a fine, established brand, so too has his customer.


“The woman I’m designer for is definitely a luxury customer, she’s a modern woman,” Wu told Style Blog after the show.  “She loves clothes, she loves textures, she indulges in beautiful coats and slip dresses. Sexy, modern and feminine.”

The minimalistic styling enhanced the luxe vibe. The beauty look by Lancome was titled “effortlessly chic.” Models had clean, light nude nails, light rosy cheeks and matte and bare lips. Hair was slicked back and up.

The looks, he thinks, would translate for women in Washington, looking for an easy elegance.

“I love the idea of a simple dress that skims the body with a statement coat. Seems like the statement of the season is the statement coat.”
